The Ink Factor
When planning printing collateral, it’s vital for companies to understand the importance of ink. The color, coverage, type, and origins of ink play a major role in how customers perceive your brand. In this post, we break down important ink-related concepts that companies should be familiar with as well how we’re able to consult with your company to reach your printing goals.
Matching is Key
As we discussed in an earlier post, the importance of color cannot be emphasized enough. Here at Rex 3, we have an in-house color lab to match any ink color a brand may need. Specifically, we utilize an ink matching room where papers and inks are tested to ensure that companies achieve the exact look that their brand demands. In doing so, we help your brand differentiate yourself from your competitors while fully maintaining your brand’s identity.
Pantone
In the world of printing, the name “Pantone” is commonly uttered. Pantone is the renowned authority on color and known for forecasting color patterns in the design and fashion industries. This is accomplished by surveying consumer preferences and changes in taste. Sometimes these changes stem from economic and social circumstances. It’s key to stay informed about future color trends so your company has an idea of what color options are available, especially if your brand is strongly focused on innovation. We can match any Pantone color, which is a valuable asset in an era of ever-changing technology and trends.
Color Scheme
We have creative designers on staff to help our customers decide on the best color combination for any project. This includes deciding on specific color schemes to help printing collateral stand out and assisting companies to achieve marketing goals.
Ink Coverage
It is important to be aware of ink coverage when planning a print project. Is your project focused on the images or is it more about how the paper feels? If it’s more about the texture of the paper, then your project might require less ink in order to showcase the quality of the paper. Photography prints require more ink coverage and typically have a gloss coating to eliminate inconsistencies. Knowing the amount of ink coverage will help you later decide on which type of paper will best suit your project – either coated or uncoated.
Agri- or Vegetable-based Ink
As a green printing company, we print with agri-based ink. Agri-ink, also known as vegetable ink, does not cause pollution or release volatile organic compounds (VOCS) into the air. Is your company environmentally conscious? If so, then agri-based ink is a great tool to support your green strategy.
Sustainability
In addition to using agri-ink, we recycle ink to make black ink. Leveraging print-on-demand helps you print only what is necessary which helps lower paper, energy, and ink consumption. We’re also certified by the SFI (Sustainable Forest Initiative Certification), PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) and the FSC (Forest Stewardship Certification).
