Revolutionizing Digital Printing: The Advanced Capabilities of the HP 12000

Rex 3 HP 12000

Not every printing company has what it takes to make (and keep) their customers happy. Some have very specific limitations based on the printers that they choose to use in their shops. Not at Rex3. We use a revolutionary, high-end device called the HP 12000. Short for HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press, this machine makes printing magic happen. The end results are exactly what you envisioned in your head and designed on the screen.

So, what else do you need to know about this amazing printer? Here are some quick highlights of its features and how we can use it to help you turn your visions into printing masterpieces.

Impressive Print Quality

Whether your goal is to produce a collectible card game (with expansion sets that can be played), brochures, promotional items, or anything else on your list, you need a printer that will do the job of creating crisp lines and clear photos. The HP 12000 does just this, thanks to its High Definition imaging system.

The HP 12000 includes a whopping 1600 DPI (dots per inch) printing system, which allows for archival art-print quality printing. It does this with a print resolution that doubles that of the previous models, as well as a 30% decrease in dot size. As a result, the images come out clear as day, with a quality that’s unmatched by any other machine.

Since the HP 12000 has extremely high print quality, the machine is ideal for a number of commercial printing needs, and what you see on your computer screen will emerge from the printer looking exactly the same. You won’t have to worry about a lack of quality or anything along those lines. The HP 12000 simply won’t allow it, making it an excellent choice for just about anything that you can envision.

An Array of Color Choices

You’re probably familiar with home printers, which make do with a four-color system of black, yellow, magenta, and cyan. While this is good for standard, everyday use that doesn’t require a precision matching system, it doesn’t do so well when it comes to professional quality results. This is why the HP 12000 is designed with an impressive seven color system.

The machine uses the HP IndiChrome Plus 7-Color System, which includes the standard four, magenta, cyan, black, and yellow, but then adds green, orange, and violet. In addition to the four-color-process, there are numerous specialized inks that can be used as well, such as light magenta, light cyan, light black, bright yellow, white, rhodamine red, transparent, and florescent pink.

Why does this make a difference? By having an array of colors to pull from when mixing them via the printer heads, it’s easier to match the exact colors that appear on the screen. There’s no need to accept a color that’s “good enough” when you don’t have to. After all, the HP 12000 can reproduce 97% of all Pantone colors, leaving you with plenty of options.

What About Paper Types?

Unlike other printing machines that have limitations to deal with, the HP 12000 allows you to print on any number of varied materials. Some examples include:

  • Metalized Media – Ideal for those wall or fence signs that need to be a bit sturdier than usual so they can survive outdoors. Consider using aluminum plates for things like additions to collectible card games, art prints, and more.
  • Paperboard – Usually used for foldable, custom printed cartons that are ideal for shipping your company’s products, paperboard can also be used for book or journal covers, museum signage, and a number of other things.
  • Canvas – Thin canvas has a number of uses, such as archival quality art prints to sell in your studio. Like metalized media, canvas can also become a handy conveyor of additional bonus items that are sold alongside trading cards.

On top of this, the HP 12000 has a very wide paper range. It can handle everything from coated to uncoated papers, including those that come in various shades of dark to light. When it comes to thicknesses, you have your choice of between 50 lb. to 150 lb. paper and cardstock, and sizes between three and 18 points in thickness. Thanks to these many options, the HP 12000 can manage all of your printing needs.
